Covenant Books Author Carol Longenecker Releases "Checking the Widow Box"

It is always amazing to witness an author opening their first box of printed books. Because Covenant Book authors are all over the world we are always grateful when authors like Carol send us photos!

Checking the Widow Box

I wrote the book that would have been useful to me in my first year of widowhood, a handbook to guide you through the emotions and hurdles unique to losing a husband. Checking the Widow Box is my journey through the changes of cooking for one, the empty chair, the empty side of the bed, the empty birthday, the one whose picture will never again be in your photo albums.

I want this book to walk alongside you in the ache you think will never end, the changes you think you will never adjust to, checking the widow box you never wanted to be your identity, at least not yet. Checking the Widow Box will walk you through creating a new rhythm when you have lost a big part of your identity, making major decisions, firsts, asking for help, and dreaming again.

Checking the Widow Box does not leave you without hope. In your darkest place, God wants to shine His light. You can laugh and remember even in the pain when His comfort embraces your sorrow.

Covenant Books Author Opens His First Box of Books

John G. Pisarcik, author of the newly released title Death to the Bishop!

Death to the Bishop

He stood in the brisk air, snow swirling around him, smoke rising from his pipe. He had been warned that his life was in danger. Each warning became more personal, but always promising his death. He stood defiant, by God, he was Walter Harrington, Bishop of Wallington, and no one was going to stop him from doing his job.

Miles away, three people plotted Walter's death. He had done them wrong, he and his Church, and now they would pay. They had been planning this for years, and the time to kill the bishop had finally arrived.

In plain sight, a single shot rang out. The next day newspapers would read "bishop murdered."

Gift Of Another Breath, Covenant Books

Initially, Angella Dixon-Watson started her journaling project so she could leave her grandchildren, Cierra and Chase, her story of surviving pancreatic cancer. And, friends and family encouraged her to share her experience beyond her family.

While journaling she had another title. When the journal was completed she felt the need to change it and was in meditation. On Sunday morning last weekend in July 2017, after waking up and saying “thank you for the gift of another day,” those words felt like a recitation to her. She paused. And then was prompted to say “thank you for the gift of another breath,” and it felt right. It is her wish for the world to know that God blessed her with His Grace and Mercy.

Angella is living the “Gift of Another Breath.” She is in the 10 percent club of pancreatic cancer survivors. She feels that if she doesn’t share with you about God’s goodness, the mountains, rocks and hills will do it. “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” Luke 19:40 ESV

Mother and Daughter Relationships, Kaye M. Lewis

Kaye M. Lewis - "Daughters Affected
by Their Mother Issue; A nonfictional account"

This book is a breath of fresh air to those women who suffer uncontrollable (non PMS related) emotional upheavals that appear as grief, anger, depression or even consistent broken relationships. An orphan phenomenon occurs when a person feels consistently abandoned, and this may even be experienced as an adult. To any woman suffering this affliction, you are not crazy, but it's likely your circumstances were. This book allows you to be a vicarious witness to dysfunctional circumstances that introduced an orphan spirit into the lives of those abandoned. The thief who steals, kills and destroys causes the withholding of the love we all need to survive.

This work is written from the author's personal autobiographic perspective to identify poisonous dysfunction in mother-daughter relationships. Therapists agree that unidentified and unresolved emotional issues with the mother (of a woman or man) may lead to a debilitation that is difficult to overcome. The author takes a thoughtful look at her own mother-daughter dynamic, with the hope it may help other women.

It is likely that many a daughter (or mother) has gone for professional counseling to find relief, and bravo for those who realized victory in therapy. However the author notes the majority of her epiphanies came from within, and not as a result of counseling. Something identified as a help to her perspective were the years she spent working as a psychological evaluation transcriptionist for five therapists and a psychiatrist. The author transcribed the therapist's psychological evaluations of adolescent girls in the court mandated group home. The author came away knowing therapists are usually caring people, who have their own set of problems, and clay feet. We all are desperately in need the love of Jesus Christ. Our brokenness cannot be counseled away, and refuses to be hidden.

Covenant Books Author Tezlyn Reardon

Divorce, ADHD, cancer, knee replacement, depression, rock bottom--just one of these words would make some people run for the hills, hair on fire, making deals with the devil to make the pain go away. Two of these words may leave people contemplating their place on earth, asking, "Why is God doing this to me?" Tezlyn Reardon looked each of these words square in the eyes and came out the victor, but it wasn't easy and it wasn't without hesitation and fear. She also didn't do it alone, even if it wasn't obvious at the time.
