The story of Judy Hartzell begins with the disappearance of her father and the murder of her mother—two events that shocked the small community of Lost Creek, West Virginia, a region of Appalachia in the 1940s. She is separated from her six siblings when she and her sister are eventually adopted by a couple in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with just stories and shadowy memories of her childhood. Judy finds a deep inner strength and independence that would lead her through a life of work, acquiring a college education, raising a family while traveling, and living in various cities in the United States and abroad.

I Am God Breathed from Author Jennifer Penrose
Just as our heavenly Father breathed into us, we are teaching our children to breathe in and through their emotions. It’s a good reminder for us as parents too.
We are all God breathed, every man, woman, and child. God created each of us with emotions. They are not something to be ashamed of or try to push away. They are there for a reason.
Children, in particular, do not always know how to handle these big emotions. It’s our job to help them. It is my hope that this book will help you to enable and empower your child to work through these emotions, learning that it’s okay to be feeling what they are feeling.

New Book Release from Author Dasherline Johnson
After enduring bombing in the Liberian war, the death of her favorite uncle, typhoid fever, and an unhealthy dynamic with her mother, Dasherline describes how she successfully overcame these hurdles, enabling her to help others as a psychologist. She contrasts the loving and nurturing relationship with her maternal grandmother, which provided a solid foundation for healing and wholeness, with the broken bond with her mother. After immigrating to the United States, Dasherline struggled to adapt to a new culture while studying for her doctoral degree and raising her children. As a Black African woman new to American culture, she explores the impact of George Floyd's death and other instances of racism and microaggression as she counsels her sons on safe behavior. She credits her faith in God as the source of healing in her relationships with her mother and her husband. She hopes through this story that readers will be inspired to develop their own resilience and faith to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.

Epiphany Through Songs By Author Randal J. Hruska
The word epiphany came to me as an "epiphany," as something different, catchy, and intriguing. As I received what I felt was spiritual revelation, I felt the urge to share what I had experienced, always hoping, and many times contemplating, before writing that my ideas were not egotistical but inspired. The "through songs" part of the title is more descriptive than anything else.
New Release from Author Eileen Weber
Ah, the golden years. Retirement—no longer chained to an alarm clock, free to travel, enjoy life at a leisurely pace. Minerva Gardiner, a socialite, suddenly finds herself a widow when her investment broker husband falls over and dies on the golf course. Minnie has never managed money or a budget, or held a job; and now she must navigate through insurance agents, mortgage bankers, and lawyers. All to no avail, for her husband of forty years has spent every nickel they had on his “sweet little thing” administrative assistant.
Minnie’s only ally is her best friend and sister-in-law, Virginia Gardiner. Along the way, they encounter several other senior citizens who need help as well. Everyday occurrences such as lust, bankruptcy, homelessness, alcoholism, Alzheimer’s, and even revenge make their way into the lives of Minnie and Ginnie and their friends and housemates. Minnie falls in love with a most unlikely hero, who, while fighting to keep his centuries-old log cabin home and ranch from being burned to the ground by an intruder, must also fight for his life.
There’s no such thing as dull dreary days for these oldsters. Meanwhile, with two or three exceptions, the writer has not defined the characters by race, religious, or sexual backgrounds. This is left to the reader. More important is the message of learning to live together, to allow each person to live as they choose, to become a “kinder” person.

New Release From Author JC Street
In January 1975, President Gerald Ford signed into law HR 17045 of the Health and Human Services, which gave birth to the Child Support Enforcement Program. This is a federal-state program whose purpose was to help strengthen families by securing financial support for children from their noncustodial parents. As a bonus, this new Child Support Enforcement program, along with President Johnson's unconditional war on poverty in the America Act, better known as the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, was sold to be the answer to eliminate intergenerational poverty cycles here in the United States. At the time of this groundbreaking new HR 17045 law, the child poverty rate was at 12 percent. However, standing in the way of this bill passing Congress was a heavily favored constitutional bedrock law called the Privacy Act. At its foundation was the 1890 Brandeis Right to Privacy law. That was simply stated the "right to be let alone." Then, there was the 1948 UN Declaration of Human Rights that declares "no one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence; nor attacks upon his honor and reputation." The Congress of 1974 was in a decisive moment. In order to pass this failing bill, there needed to be a compromise. In exchange for a yes vote to change the Privacy Act (so that we can have this new child support program), Congress will grant exemptions to some federal employees so that their pay cannot be garnished by this new child support program. And to cement this program with the everyday American people, Congress agreed to input a couple of stimulus-response theories into this package. They understood that providing a stimulus to individuals will cause them to react in a certain way, and by rewarding or punishing these responses, they can train the person to react in a particular way. They also used operant conditioning, a method of learning that employs, rewards, and punishes behaviors to establish and maintain conflict between parties--in this example, behaviors between fathers, mothers, and their children. Both psychological theories work together to ensure a desired destination: the classic "divide and conquer" plan. Now that this bill was signed into law, there was only one thing left to do. That was to sell this program to the American people and collect the profits. They found the perfect strategy to get their message across: it's called yellow journalism. It's an 1890s melodrama technique, coined by newspaper owners William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer. It used sensational dramatic pieces, with exaggerated characters to persuade its readers to believing that made-up storylines were true. In the end, it made them both very rich. It's now 2021. We have had over forty years to look back over this child support program. Opinions are conflicting. However, we cannot change the facts; remember, facts are very stubborn things. It is a proven fact that this system (the child support system) needs conflict to work. Folks, it's important to understand what is at stake here--it's your family tree. At least three consecutive generations after you will, or can, be affected by what you do. It is now up to you to plant the seed of hope in the lives of those who you directly affect, which are your children. The good news is that God saw this coming. He has a plan for you and your family to escape (break free) from this intergenerational poverty cycle. Insights about how and why this is so very important are shared in this book.

The Journey: A Christian Perspective on Life’s Journey from Earth to Glory
The Journey is a Christian perspective on life's journey from earth to glory. In The Journey, Reverend Brenner describes the Christian life in three aspects--past, present, and future or beginning, continuing, and finishing the journey of faith. He shows that the Christian life is analogous to the history of Israel in the Old Testament. Broadly speaking, Israel's history could be summed up in three stages--deliverance from Egypt, the wilderness sojourn, and possessing Canaan, the promised land. The author shows how the Christian's life similarly may be viewed in three stages--redemption from sin's bondage, living for Christ in a sinful world, and reaching our goal, which is heaven, the hope of all believers. His main emphasis is on the second stage, appropriately entitled the pilgrimage, which is obviously the present time of our journey--of living our Christian life now in this present evil world.Reflecting again on Israel's history, he shows how happy they were to escape Egypt but how discouraged and defeated they became during their wilderness journey because of hardships and trials and failed to reach their goal.So the author reminds readers who are on this journey of faith that it's not how you start but how you finish--and finish depending on what you do and how you do after your start and going forward. "So run, that ye may obtain," as 1 Corinthians 9:27 says.So many other words of admonition are given to remind the Christian that he must remain dedicated and determined throughout his journey to reach the goal. Again, listen to the apostle Paul in Philippians 3:12-14: "I follow after; this one thing I do, reaching forth, I press toward the mark for the prize." He is focused.Making the journey is a collaborative effort between the believers and God, our faith and his faithfulness. The author's aim for this book is to encourage you as you continue on in your journey toward heaven.

New Release from Author Lizette Ezrre Pohlmeyer
As parents, we unknowingly teach our children at a young age to rely on us for love. We say things like "Who loves you the most?" and the answer is typically us. Then as children grow up and go to school, they seek the approval and acceptance of classmates and later in life get into relationships that may sometimes fail or be toxic. When this happens, they question their existence and feel unloved. This can lead to self-esteem issues, self-medicating with medications, drugs and/or alcohol, or even worse, suicide. Who Loves You the Most? is a book written for children to understand the wonderful relationship we can have with ourselves and with God when we listen to what's inside our hearts, teaching children at an early age that, ultimately, no matter what happens or what life brings us, we are never truly alone when we believe and accept God as our savior.
