Covenant Books Author Russell England

Continuous economic growth is not sustainable because such growth depends on depletion of finite natural resources, ever-increasing debt, continuous population growth, and land use conversion--none of which is sustainable long term. Measuring economic health in gross terms (gross domestic product) is deceptive because it says nothing about the net benefits or costs of economic activity or the impact of economic growth on ecosystems. Yet growth is worshiped like a religion and politicians go to great lengths to lure industry (and people) from other states or countries without any attempt to determine optimum population density. Debt is unethically passed on to future generations.

It is time for governments at all levels to begin planning for a sustainable future that works toward achieving a stable economy and a stable population that is within the long term carrying capacity of supporting ecosystems. The economy is a subset of the ecosystem--not the other way around. The concept of optimum as it applies to human populations needs to be recognized. More is not always better.

Rosemarie Swadley Davis Release A New Book, Published by Covenant Books

Rosetta's daddy was building a truck that could not move. The reason it could not move is because it was missing a very important part.

Just like the truck, Rosetta and some of her friends were missing a very important part of what it means to ask Jesus into their hearts and lives.

Rosetta shared her story with her Sunday school class.

Life's Last Fork in the Road, Dr. Glenn M. Cosh

We all have an earthly zip code, a place we live and call home. It ranges from 10001 for New Yorkers, to 90210 for those in Beverly Hills. But what about our life after death, the next phase for our souls - the afterlife, eternity and heaven? Yes, we seek guidance from the world's major religions, and the plethora of beliefs and perceptions from other sources, as to where our souls might end up. Yet, an astonishing one quarter of those who consider themselves part of a major religion still don't believe in heaven at all.

"Life's Last Fork in the Road" offers a thought provoking scientific and theological overview of what heaven is and isn't among the major belief systems, but goes a step further, asking and offering answers to the question, "What zip code do you want on your tombstone?" Like your fingerprint, you want it to fit within your spiritual beliefs and comfort zone, not someone else's. If we can choose our zip code on earth, why not in heaven?

Hard Times, A New Release From Covenant Books

A narrative long unwritten; more than seventy years in passing.... a most compelling collection of experiences and events to possibly befall six youngsters in what is today's Green Bay Packer Land. Before the ink was hardly dry on their marriage license, the folks tumbled into the first swath of the Grim Reaper - the onset of the Great Depression in 1929.

From the occasional running of 'hootch' into Chicago, to their dad hiding mobsters from gangland in a tunnel from their house to the barn, or even John Dillinger giving sister Eunice a twenty for Lollipops; in those early dust bowl 'thirties' we youngsters were far too young or were yet unborn to even contemplate what 'normal' life really was.

Two decades of hardscrabble existence are finally fading in the rear-view mirror.

New Release From Author Nancy Hardman Klemme

Like devout Christians everywhere, Abdiel the donkey sought to love and serve his master, Jesus. His service began when he brought the Savior's mother to Bethlehem, where Mother Mary would give birth to the Son of God. When his service ends in the shadow of the cross, Abdiel comes to understand that he will forever carry the burden of the sorrow of the Crucifixion upon his back to remind us all of our God's great love and our Savior's ultimate sacrifice.

Loose Weight Without Dieting, Brand New Release From Author Peter J. Fitzpatrick

"You can lose weight without dieting." This is what Nancy, my sister in Ireland, told me, and her statement is proven to be correct by American scientific evidence.

One American scientific fact is about setpoint. Setpoint is the new word the scientists used to describe "an incredibly powerful mechanism in our brains to control our weight that it (not our conscious mind) considers appropriate."

The setpoint only works "Among people who eat normally." So, this means that practically every one of us, who have been on diets, was not eating normally before having to go on a diet.

Another American scientific fact is that "Dieting triggers a reduction in Leptin, which both increases appetite and decreases metabolism." With the result that, "Dieting thus becomes one of the quickest routes to long-term weight gain." Who knew?

I followed Nancy's advice by "eating normally" and I got to my setpoint, and I have stayed at it for over a year now - which is 34 lbs. lighter than I was when I started, and as it is the right weight for me, it feels good.

Thank you, Nancy and American scientists, Linda Bacon, PhD and Lucy Aphramor. PhD, RD.
