Being Charley: Embracing Differences - New Release

Charley invites you to enter the world of autism. Being Charley: Embracing Differences is a story about a Canada goose who is unlike his siblings. Charley has autism. The words and illustrations tell the story with awareness, understanding, and acceptance of individual differences.
Learning how to swim, honk, and fly are challenging. Charley is hesitant to swim because the water is too cold against his feathers. Learning to honk with his siblings hurts his ears because it is so loud. The sun is too bright when flying in the V-formation so Charley flies upside down. The family flock does not understand at first but soon realizes that Charley is different.
The authors' goal in writing the story is for readers to embrace the uniqueness of individual differences. The story has a theme: Together, we can be different and still belong.

New Release from Maxine Johnson

Christmas Hero

Children love heroes because they help others. During the Golden Era, aka 1950s, children thought of policemen, firemen, soldiers, doctors, etc. as their heroes. When asked what they wanted to be when they grew up, their response would be one of those. The children of Annanhem are no different. They live a life of freedom with very little concern about the dreaded “evil scientist” who is out to destroy or take over the world. They think more about defeating Communism specifically in Korea, bank robbers, and disease. They admire and trust the doctors, soldiers, policemen, and firemen in their town to right wrongs and to save lives.

Christmas Hospitality

Marion delights in being back in Annanhem. She spent most of her childhood summers there and made great friends. She never dreamed she would be working as the librarian. When unexpected visitors arrive early one morning, she offers them what they really need the most, hospitality. When Pastor Robert Stephenson discovers her gift, he is enthralled. Will it be possible to capture her attention and make her his permanent hostess only in a more personal way?

Christmas Hopes

Tragedy led Sarah to her mother in Annanhem. Hired to teach junior and senior English classes, Sarah works to learn the names of everyone in town. After being in town just a month, Sarah has a run-in with the new doctor Abraham Hollinsworth, who literally knocks her of her feet. Finding out she is a married woman, Abraham finds himself in desperate straits and doubting his understanding of where he felt sure God was leading him. Mystery surrounds Sarah, but Abe, somewhat of a mystery himself, takes on the task of helping to solve the mystery. Will they find their hopes fulfilled?

Author Rafael Polo Receives Letter from President Trump

In 1959, the Cold War was getting warmer. Cuba was the revolutionary fuel that made it hot. When Fidel Castro took power, he promised free elections, but instead, he became the country's new dictator, and a communist one at that. Marco's family did not support the Castro regime and was subjected to insults and mockery from former "friends."
As the country dug deeper and deeper into Marxism, Marco's parents decided it was time to talk to their nine-year-old boy. They proposed a tough decision--either go live in the United States with his aunt, or stay with them in Cuba. He chose to go. He knew that was what his parents wanted.
Marco lived with his aunt and uncle for a short and difficult time. About eight months later, his family was reunited. Like all immigrants before them, they struggled to make a living, but with hard work, discipline, and belief in God, they managed to thrive in a relative short time.
What follows is a story much like any story from millions of immigrants willing to work, assimilate, and become another ingredient in the great melting pot that is the United States of America.

Author Rafael Polo sent a copy of his book to the White House he received this letter back from President Trump.

I Am In Control - New Release

Do you desire to live your life to your greatest potential? Do you get in your own way because of fear of the unknown? I Am in Control is a book full of tools that I have used to overcome my struggles of self-doubt and self-worth. I realized that God's Word outlined everything I needed to understand the power I have within me, and I want you to understand that you pose that same power. We are people that are already equipped to do the things necessary to fulfill our purpose, yet so many of us do not live to see our greatest potential. Why? Because we doubt God. By doubting ourselves, we are doubting God's work. He tells us many times that we are already equipped. From birth, we were created with a plan. Our lives are not an accident but on purpose. We are not here to just exist. We are here to encourage. We are here to love. We are here to be evidence of God's existence. We are here to impact lives. We are here to do the work that God has assigned us to. I know that we don't always know what that work is initially. God has created us already equipped with a plan, so lean on those instincts that are within you, those gut pulls, those heavy desires on your heart, those visions that are constantly running in your head, those urges to do something amazing. Run with all of that. God has placed it in you. You must believe. You must act on those urges. You must move on those thoughts. You must have faith that God got you. You must know that you are equipped. You have to know that God makes no mistakes. You have to make the choice that you will walk in the promises that God has created for you. Through this book, I share my journey to this realization. I equip you with the tools I used to overcome myself. I pray that this helps you on your journey to living your best life.

New Release from Billy White

True Grunt is not about a Vietnam battle or a Vietnam journal/ memoir. It is a response to seeing short "Vietnam War 50 years later videos" on TV. These videos show two sides of the infantry in Vietnam. One side depicts the infantry fighting heroically and the other depicts the infantry committing some kind of atrocity. I served on the front lines with the infantry/grunt in 1970-1971. With many grandchildren, I don't want this mixed message to be my legacy. In 1971, over 150 Vietnam veterans admitted to atrocities at a conference in Detroit, John Kerry testified in Congress about atrocities, and finally the My Lai Massacre trial of a lieutenant ended. The press explained that our high casualty rate of 35% was due to stupidity as only non- college men were being drafted. In April 1971, over 900 Vietnam Veterans threw their medals down on the Capitol Building steps. In March 1971, we actually had a chance to win the Vietnam War if we had sent troops into Laos. We chose not to because of an ill-advised law and anti-war sentiments. In those years, the infantry especially became the most maligned soldiers in our country's history. We were known as the baby killers and monsters of Vietnam. Those names continue to haunt us today. By seeing and experiencing my life as infantry- "grunt"- at that time, I hope the reader of True Grunt sees the infantry as moral men of intelligence and courage. They fought in some of the worst conditions of war. It is also a story of hope as one Vietnam Veteran regains his life, overcomes personal tragedies, and even disease from Agent Orange. It's time to project "50 years later videos" with just one message. Thousands of Vietnam grunts like myself were true to ourselves, our morals and our country. We won a great Victory inVietnam. No asterisk needed.

Campfire Stew - New Release

Girl Scout Troop 11 is by no means ordinary.
Campfire Stew: Fort Worth's Girl Scout Troop 11 is the inspiring and humorous story of a very special Texas Girl Scout troop whose members have stayed together for seventy years. The troop began in 1949 as eighteen feisty, chatty, and lively five-and-six-year-old girls. They grew into outstanding women who are still impacting the world in which they live.
Campfire Stew is both a favorite dish of the troop and a metaphor for the troop itself--each girl/woman is one ingredient, good by herself, but so much better when mixed together with the others.

New Release from James Vincent and Dr. Thomas V. Thomas

My Life in the Stormy Seas is a book of passion of James Vincent who knew deep inside that Sylvia, his wife, was mentally ill. Yet, he wanted to save their marriage. This story tells how Dr. Thomas travelled through the lives of Sylvia, in various countries, and Vincent. This book tells how people with no discernment abilities made insincere and unwise choices in misunderstanding Sylvia’s mental illness. This is a true life experience of Vincent who lived with a chronically mentally ill wife who destroyed his life. This book is about stigma, ignorance, stereotypes of mental illness, and how it affects several lives.
The heartbreaking story of Vincent is about how he was ridiculed by his so-called friends and most family members. Some of them even wished that he was dead. Vincent was threatened with police and court action if he ever sought help from them. The story speaks of the hypocrisy of “Godly people.” This is a painful story of rejection, loneliness, in-depth faith, and trust in God as raging waters almost killed Vincent.
This book is the story of Vincent who lost almost everything as he tried to help Sylvia while she struggled with mental illness. Rev. Dr. Sam—who entered into their lives under the pretension of bringing them together by solving problems—in fact, had an ulterior motive of fishing in troubled waters to satisfy his emotions and lust in the guise of religion. As Vincent was thrown in the turbulent sea, he was scared, fearful of disappearing under the raging swells into the dark depths of the seas as the torrent of waves was beyond human capacity to overcome, surmount, and survive. There are details and simple explanations to help common man to understand the difficult, unusual, puzzling, questionable behaviors of “normal and good-looking” people who are chronically mentally ill, like Sylvia. Understanding the troubled mind of Sylvia can be challenging and can raise questions with no satisfactory answers.
Dr. Thomas has written the first edition of this book while Vincent was seeing a lighthouse far away on the horizon. This revised second edition is written while Vincent is walking toward a distant safe place from the shore. Though he had to overcome hills and valleys as he continued his journey on slippery roads, he is holding on to the hands of Jesus who said, “Fear not.” The journey is tough, but the early morning cool breeze and sunshine is giving energy to the weak body and spirit.
This book is about the graciousness of the Rock of all ages, God Almighty, the Great I Am. Vincent has seen the loving touch of Jesus as he faced the roaring and stormy seas. This is a story of God’s power to restore broken lives if we wait for God and his time. This book will help anyone in fear, anxiety, and those who are worried because their loved one is chronically mentally ill.

Almost A Silent Night - New Release

It was indeed "Almost a Silent Night" that Christmas Eve of 1818 at St. Christopher Church in Oberndorf, Austria. Nate Colson shares in poem the true story that inspired Joseph Mohr to write the words of the well-loved Christmas carol "Silent Night," and the circumstances that led Franz Gruber to write the music for the guitar. This beautifully illustrated storybook truly demonstrates the biblical truth that when all seems lost, God will work things out for those he loves, and inspires to do his special work (Romans 8:28).

New Release from Tonya Strahan

Life Happens--Enjoy the ride.
Life Happens is full of impactful moments that shaped the life of one woman. She has experienced the loss of family, friends, and her own childhood memories. She will take you on a journey through her life experiences and share what she learned along the way. She shares her greatest joys and her struggles through her most traumatic experiences. There were times she felt God was over estimating how much she could handle, but she never lost her faith. She did stray away from God; there were times she even ran away, but deep down she always felt his presence in her life.
You will get to know Tonya Strahan as you enjoy the ride--the ride she calls Life. She lived a life that was normal to her, but as she grew, she realized that life could be better. She learned that although struggles may come her way, how she reacted to it was the key to happiness. She has lived, experienced, and overcame with faith, hope, and love. She hopes her reflections, throughout her life, inspire and encourage you to press on and fight the good fight with faith and more self-love.
Being misunderstood drove her to try harder, to be better for those around her until she realized it's not about them. It's not about how others perceive you or what they think about you. They can think you're a purple polka-dotted dinosaur, but it doesn't make you a purple polka-dotted dinosaur. She had to learn that the hard way, but in the end, she learned to love others where they are, but most importantly, to love herself. That is the key to learning how to enjoy the ride.
